MCS-1 portable canister Sampler shown connected
to a six-liter AeroSphere canister (sold separately). |
Applications Include
Applications for MCS Series sampling systems include
field sampling ("fenceline" or "perimeter" sampling), using Stabilizer AeroSphere or other stainless steel sample canisters. MCS samplers
also have application in hygiene and hazardous response sampling. They
are easy to use and available as either a portable or rack mountable system.
Briefly, here's how the samplers operate. The pump inlet of the MCS-1 draws
ambient air samples from the environment. The MCS-1 then injects the air
sample into a sampling canister at a constant flow rate, for a preset time.
The systems controls the flow rate and the elapsed time of the air flow,
thus enabling the air sampling operator to easily compute the volume of
the integrated air sample. The final pressure of the air sample can also
be controlled by the system.
Optional Modules and components
- Models are also available
for simultaneous sampling with up to 6 or 12 canisters.
- Module for hazardous
air sampling.
- Bag sampler module.
- Optional heated sampler
systems for cold weather operation and condensation prevention.

Item # MT60A; specify micron pore size: 1-2,5.
Features
- Available
as portable, table top or rack-mountable systems. Versatile design enables
use in a wide variety of sampling applications.

hour or 7-day programming. Stores up to 21 ON and 21 OFF events per day.
Permits variable timed purge cycles.
- Constructed
with high integrity stainless steel components, and built to minimize
"dead volume."
- Precision
mechanical flow control provides milliliter-by-milliliter adjustment of
flow rates.
- Automatic
or manual operation, enabling user flexibility.
- Elapsed
time meter provides information about total sequential collection time.
- Table
top or rack mounted systems come with a mass flow meter and LCD display, for easy flow calibration.
- Status
lights for: AC power, DC power (portable system), pump on and sample on.
- Any
moisture that becomes accumulated within the system can easily be
drained.
- Unidirectional
flow safeguards against backflow and loss of sample.
- Built
with the highest quality materials and workmanship to insure continuing
reliable operation.
The MCS-1 Portable system also features:
- Lightweight
portability, weighing only about 20 pounds; ideal for field use.
- Housed
in a rugged and attractive equipment case.
- Operates
with 120 VAC and 12V DC power (both fuse protected). System use of 12 VDC
provides electrical system safety. Comes with cigarette lighter adapter.
- Includes
a Teflon prefilter with a choice of membrane pore sizes.
- Power
cord provides "an additional outlet".

Operating Overview
Simply attach the inlet filter to the pump, connect
the MCS series sampling system to a power supply, and know instantly, by
the system's status indicating lights, that the system is ready to use.
Push the channel 1 override button and adjust
the system back pressure with the metering bypass valve. By depressing
the channel 2 override button, the desired flow rate can be set with the
precision flow control regulator. The MCS-1-R's built-in mass flow meter
LCD display shows the adjusted flow rate.
MCS sampling systems can be operated in automatic
or manual modes. Manual operation enables quick sampling or convenient
system purging. For fully automatic sampling or system purging, the MCS
systems uses an easy-to-program timer that permits up to 294 on/off events,
over a 7 day time span. While the sample is being taken the total elapsed
sample time is being recorded. This features is particularly useful as
confirmation that the system has not experienced any power failures. The
many features of MCS series canister sampler's ensure the repeatable and
reliable collection of high integrity air samples.
